Digital Inclusion Initiative

Unfortunately not all of Ohio’s residents, businesses, educational and healthcare facilities, and local governments have equal access to technology. To effectively invigorate Ohio’s economy and connect to world markets, all of Ohio must have viable access to superior broadband at competitive prices. Therefore the Broadband Ohio Plan includes the development of a Digital Inclusion Strategic Plan to bridge the “digital divide” in Ohio.

The Digital Inclusion Strategic Plan will provide Ohio’s citizens, businesses, educational and healthcare institutions, as well as local governments, access to the critical technologies that will power local and regional economies and connect them to world markets.

The Digital Inclusion Strategic Plan will establish as an objective a minimum of gigabit connectivity in every Ohio county through connections to Ohio’s network backbone. This approach will guarantee that both rural and urban areas of the state are able to meet new standards for accessing next generation technology.
