Appalachian Broadband Task Force

The Appalachian Ohio Broadband Task Force is a group of industry representatives, elected and government officials, and interested citizens. The group was created by Congressman Zack Space to spur further deployment of broadband technology to areas of Southeastern Ohio that do not have access to this service. The Task Force first met in August 2007 and subsequently in October of that year.

At the first meeting of the Task Force, members discussed what the goals of the group should be, developed a mission statement, and set the regulations by which the group will abide.

The second meeting of the Task Force featured a discussion on how resources available to members of the Task Force could be used to support community broadband efforts around the district. Members agreed that the Task Force should review project submissions from around the district and provide advice to the communities based on collective knowledge so as to further the opportunities of these projects being successful.
